President's Message

Welcome to the Playhouse Theatre and 'Aladdin', the Societies 43rd Annual pantomime. 'Aladdin' or 'Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp' as it was originally known, is a fairy tale straight from that magical book 'The Arabian Nights'. Our version follows the original story set in old China. Aladdin, a poor and idle young man, found by Abanazar - a particularly bad and greedy magician - who lures Aladdin into an enterprise to find lots of gold. He then traps our hero in the cave. Aladdin finds an old lamp, surprises, and a lot of mischief.

It so happens that 'Aladdin' was the first pantomime that the Society presented.

This years 'Aladdin' will be the last show in the present Theatre before the Playhouse closes for refurbishment. Next year's show is under discussion and it is hoped to find an alternative venue to present our Panto. So sit back and enjoy this year's production of 'Aladdin'
