COME HAVE FUN, LAUGHTER, MERRIMENT AND JOY WITH US!
Whitley Bay Pantomime Society was founded in September 1964 by a group of enthusiastic amateurs, whose aim was to “preserve and promote the arts and skills associated with the pantomime tradition”. That year only one North East Theatre was staging a traditional pantomime and so the members changed a dream into reality and staged “Aladdin” at the (now demolished) Priory Theatre, Whitley Bay from 11th to 16th January 1965. From that first success, the Society has gone on to present an annual Pantomime in the town each January. In 1975 the Society moved to Whitley Bay Playhouse and we are proud to be known locally as the “Playhouse Pantomime”.
Emphasis remains firmly on tradition, laughter, lavish sets and costumes. All profits go to local charities and over the years this has amounted to a lot! We are a friendly Society whose members work hard, but also have lots of fun and enjoyment producing successful shows. Get involved with the staging or any other aspect of our productions by contacting our Secretary. We are always looking for willing hands to help out with a variety of jobs. No previous experience necessary!
Whitley Bay Pantomime Society is a long time member of National Operatic and Dramatic Association and in 2004 we celebrated our 40th Anniversary with “Goldilocks”.
